Bloom window: Late Spring through First Frost

Growing in Indiana

Light & Sun

This plant does best in full sun conditions.

Watering

Water needs: low. Prefers average moist, well-drained, fertile soils with ph 5.8-6.2 soil.

Overwinter Notes

Annual in Indiana (Zone 5-6). Does not survive frost. Replace each spring after last frost date.

Common Mistakes

The #1 mistake with Lantana is overwatering. PassionFruit wants to dry out between waterings — wet feet lead to root rot faster than any pest. Don't plant before Mother's Day in Indiana. And don't deadhead — it's self-cleaning and deadheading actually slows down the next flush.

Healthy vs. Stressed

Healthy: Compact, dense mound covered in multicolor flower clusters. Dark green leaves, no yellowing. New growth at every tip. Stressed: Yellowing lower leaves (overwatering), leggy stretched stems (not enough sun), or flower pause (needs fertilizer — feed every 2 weeks).
